Observations on “Match”. The facebook group where poetry meets photography.
Some weeks ago I started the facebook group “Match”.
The concept of this group is in short:
Every Monday a small poem or text by me is posted.
The challenge is to post a photo or artwork that matches this poem / text in the poem of the week album. Only one image to the poem can be posted.
It has become a group where members really do connect. They comment on each other work more than in most other groups and the contributions are beautiful. Quality is far more important than quantity in “Match”. At the moment most members do focus on a word in the poem, and less on the meaning of the poem, but I am sure that will change rapidly.
For the admins it has been a hell of a job helping the members to post their image in the right album and convince the members they have a better chance in the challenge when the poem is posted with the image, so it can be seen how they relate.
Almost every member is willing to follow the rules, but not every members speaks English very well, so we are trying to help them with translations of the rules which can be found in the documents section of `Match´as well.
As for the challenge every Tuesday a shortlist of the best contributions is presented and on Wednesday the winner of the previous week in announced. The selection is done by one of the members, which seems to work out well.
The address of the group is:
Please do not join this group if you only want to show your work and/or do no agree to the rules of the group. The rules are there to keep the artistic level of the group high.
Thanks you Judith Bartos, Karin Fors, Kay Duke, Laura Carlsson and Zoha Zaman for making “Match” a success!
